2

Authorize Access

You'll be redirected to Google's secure authorization page. Review the permissions and grant Mortar CMS read-only access to your Google Analytics data.

3

Map Properties

After connection, you'll see all your GA4 accounts and properties. Click "Add Mapping" next to any property to connect it to one of your Mortar CMS websites.

4

View Analytics

Once mapped, analytics data will appear in your website dashboards with real-time traffic, user behavior, and performance metrics.

  • Website Traffic: Page views, sessions, users, and bounce rates
  • User Behavior: Popular pages, user flow, and engagement metrics

OAuth Permissions

  • • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly
  • • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email
  • • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile

GA4 Requirements

Important: Google has deprecated Universal Analytics (effective July 1, 2024). Mortar CMS only supports Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties.

Before Connecting

  • Ensure you have GA4 properties set up for your websites
  • Verify you have admin access to your Google Analytics account
  • Make sure GA4 tracking is properly installed on your websites
  • Have permission to grant access to third-party applications

Need to Migrate from Universal Analytics?

If you're still using Universal Analytics, you'll need to set up GA4 properties first:

Property Mapping

Property mapping connects your GA4 properties to your Mortar CMS websites, enabling analytics data to appear in your website dashboards.

Mapping Strategies

One-to-One

Map one GA4 property to one website

"example.com - GA4" → example.com website

Multiple Properties

Multiple properties track one website

Main + Blog properties → single website

Multi-Domain

One property tracks multiple websites

Multi-domain property → multiple websites

Primary Properties

You can designate one property as "primary" for each website. Primary properties are used as the default data source for dashboard widgets and automated reports.

Primary Property Benefits

  • • Default data source for dashboard widgets
  • • Highlighted in analytics reports and summaries
  • • Used for automated insights and recommendations
  • • Main property shown in website overview pages
